Are you ready for oral accidents and injuries? Have you taken the time to build emergency kits to ensure timely treatments will be available should the worst occur? Although tooth loss and objects stuck in teeth are normal oral accidents, there are many ways in which your oral health could be destroyed in an instant, so it is imperative to plan ahead.

Although biting into your own lip or tongue can often occur, especially while eating, you should still treat each wound with attention. Many times, your wound will heal on its own, but it is important to take care of your wound so an infection does not take place. If you are bleeding, cover the wound with a gauze pad to prevent further bleeding.

If you have had a tooth knocked loose, it may still be able to be saved. Find and store the tooth that has been knocked loose in a liquid substance until it is ready to be re-inserted again by your dentist. If you have a dental filling knocked loose, cover the affected tooth in chewing gum or dental cement. If you have a dental crown knocked out, cover the affected tooth in a cotton swab dabbed in clove oil.
